This incident, known as the ‘Zoot Suit Riots,’ is often relegated to a footnote of history and even considered amusing due to its association with a clothing fad. But the Zoot Suit Riots were a brutal event that influenced the Latino and Chicano civil rights movements and minority youth culture for years to follow.
